Wheel of Emotions
The Wheel of Emotions (developed by Plutchik, 1980) is a visual model that organizes human emotions into six primary categories—such as happy, surprise, fear, anger, disgust, and sadness. The wheel shows how they relate, intensify, and combine to form more complex feelings. Rather than viewing emotions as isolated experiences, the wheel illustrates how emotions exist on a spectrum and often overlap.
This is important because it helps clients move beyond vague labels like “stressed” or “fine” and develop a more precise emotional vocabulary. That clarity increases self-awareness, improves communication, and creates a stronger foundation for regulating emotions and making intentional choices in life.
